SI Where is Dady“Who’s your daddy?” Well, that is a question that may have a hard time figuring out when asking some of the children of men whose posters are plastered on the doors of children and adults all across the nation. It goes to figure that these men are not making money on the side teaching moral values on the weekends and booking marriage seminars alongside Mark Gungor.

1-     Larry Johnson of Charlotte Hornets has five children by four different women. To top things off, in order to attempt getting out of child support with pregnant model Laura Tate, he strongly encouraged an abortion. Unfortunately for LJ this went public and she refused.

2-     Marshal Faulk: Recent Hall of Fame Inductee after leading in rushing yards while playing with the Rams and Colts has six children by three different women.

3-     Ray Lewis: Yes, the recent Super Bowl winner applauded by millions. Yes, the one who was recently discussed in his involvement in a past murder where he was charged with obstruction of justice because he refused to give up information regarding the murders of two men he witnessed/or was involved in 13 years ago telling people in car, “don’t tell anyone what you saw.” How many children does he have? 6 children by 4 different women.

4-     Bennie Blades: Former Detroit Lions pro bowl safety, (yes the one arrested for pulling a bazooka out in the parking lot of a strip club) and (yes, the one arrested at a high school for owing over 400,000 in child support) has 6 children by 6 different women.

5-     Derrick Thomas: Died in car accident in 2000. Upcoming Kansas Chief linebacker left behind him a legacy of 7 children and 5 women.

6-     Shawn Kemp: Everyone remembers the player for the Sonics! Confirmed 7 children by 6 women. Rumor’s remain at large that it actually is 11 children by 9 women.

7-     Mike Tyson: Yes, the boxer who enjoyed eating the ear of Evander Holyfield. 8 children and number of women unknown. He was at least married three times.

8-     Willie Anderson: 11 seasons as an NBA pro, famous with the San Antonio spurs. 9 children and 7 women.

9-     Jason Caffey: NBA player for the Bulls in the 1990’s and in 2008 arrested for child support problems. 10 children by 8 women.

10-  Evander Holyfield: Yes, he lent his ear to Tyson. How about 11 children by 8 women?

11- Travis Henry: NFL Pro Bowl selection in 2002 who when asked about promiscuous lifestyle stated, “”Knock on wood, or something, I’m blessed not to have AIDS. That never crossed my mind.” How many does he tally? 11 children by 10 women.

12- Antonio Cromartie: Jets cornerback who in interview had a hard time naming his children. How many? 12 children by 9 women.

13- Calvin Murphy: Played as a guard for Houston Rockets in the 70’s and 80’s. Regarded as one of the shortest NBA player inducted into the Hall of Fame. Well he has other records as well! 14 children by 9 different women.

Thirteen examples hardly scratch the surface! In 1998 Sports Illustrated dealt with the statistics of this trend (25 years ago!)

Sports Illustrated reports that among professional athletes out-of-wedlock births are epidemic. And of athletes in the major sports leagues, those in the NBA appear to have the greatest number of cases. According to SI, one of the NBA’s top agents says he spends more time dealing with paternity claims than he does negotiating contracts. The agent tells the magazine that there might be more kids out of wedlock than there are players in the NBA.

What has become more tragic today in our society is that with the ease of internet access children have the ability to follow every single move their modern sports hero’s make. The modern sports player (not all but many) have become nothing more than tatted out gang-bangers who are making news for flicking off fans, fighting and torturing dogs, getting arrested for multiple DUI’s, hitting up the strip-clubs and night spots of “high-society,” and constantly being arrested for drug use, violence, and even murder.

We are paying the salaries of these men! We are promoting this men! These men are icons to a generation that is absorbing influence at rapid and alarming rates. You decide…
