Coaxed into the Cage

Recently I was reading an article, and don't ask me why, that contained a question and answer section. The question presented was from a bird owner who was inquiring about how to get her bird back into the cage at night. It seems that every night the bird would do its...

Husbands Hindered in Prayer

Husbands, listen up! What would you think if I were to tell you that your prayers could be potentially “cut off” or “hewn down?” In other words, if prayer were like the planting of a tree and the ultimate goal was to produce fruit from that tree; what if all your...

Context is Everything: The Spirit of the Prophet is Subject to the Prophet

Today, with almost a tad of reluctance, I will navigate through the waters of contextual error once again. Why reluctance? Well, the contextual dilemma that we confront today is one that has been utilized in various and sundry fashions but, for the most part, has been...

The Mystery of the Man Serveto

On the 27th of October 1553, an uneasy and unshaven man wearing a louse-ridden doublet limped wearily through the streets of Geneva, escorted by a squadron of archers. His look was that of a man who feels uneasy abandoned and alienated. The sad procession arrived at...

Communicating the Truth, Part 2

this idea of “abusing the pulpit” is becoming an ever-increasing trend in our current hour. It goes back, as expressed in the first post, to what God impressed into my spirit while in prayer one day: “stop trying to direct the wind and preach the Word!” If I, or any other, uses the pulpit as a platform of manipulation rather than Godly impartation and instruction, I am abusing the purpose of the pulpit.

The Power to Loose and Bind (Part 1.5)- The Mount of Transfiguration

Remember, while they slept Jesus prayed and, while Jesus was praying, “the fashion of his countenance was altered” (Luke 9:29). Both Matthew and Luke indicate that Jesus’ face shown like the sun! Sound familiar? This is what happens to Moses’ face after seeing the residue of God’s glory on the mountain (cf. Ex. 34:29). However, in this instance the shining is something that progresses from the “inside-out”; going as far as to alter the clothing that Jesus wore. The actual Greek word used here is metamorphoo , a word that signifies something changing from one form into another. In this instance, the “form of a servant”(cf. Phil. 2:7) takes on the form of Jesus’ true identity; revealed by the manifestation of a brilliant, effulgent glory (cf. Heb. 1:3; Acts 26:13).

The Development of Vision- Part 2

The Threefold Cord of Development In the last post, a foundation was laid to emphasize principle aspects of developing vision. That vision, obtained at the heights of the mountain, must be brought into the valley where life is lived. One of the greatest failures of...

Matthew 16:13-20 (KJV) 13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the...
